All at ERNA are saddened to hear of the death of John Walsh, founder and former CEO of the COPD Foundation and co-author with ERNA Steering Group member Monica Fletcher of the key report COPD Uncovered.

John will be remembered not only for his pioneering work in the field of respiratory health but for his tireless efforts advocating for the millions worldwide with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Monica said: “I am so saddened by this news. I spent many hours with John over the years in so many far off places, working to find ways to put COPD on the global map. He was always so supportive of the nursing role in COPD.
“My heartfelt best wishes go to his family, friends, colleagues and the global COPD community.”

An online condolence book has been opened, and includes memories from a number of people. https://www.copdfoundation.org/About-Us/Who-We-Are/About-the-Founder/A-Community-Remembers-John-W-Walsh.aspx?page=2
